ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • New Street Beats are available and are Yellow this quarter. (Starting October 1st) 
  • There is still a funding opportunity for a New Permanent Supportive Housing project that helps people experiencing homelessness with a disability in the 2012 Continuum of Care application.   If you are interested in applying or know someone who is, please contact: Liz@homelessresourcenetwork.org
  • HMIS Training is available October 3rd and 17th @ 2pm at the Homeless Resource Network. Please contact: Jon@homelessresourcenetwork.org if you will be coming or are interested in  using an HMIS system. 
  • As of October 1st, no one will be allowed to stay under the 2nd Ave bridge. There is a group that will be assisting in helping the people that are staying there now. For more info or to get involved, please email Christi Bevis at: cbevis@unitedwayofthecv.org
  • Hope Harbour is hosting a walk in honor of victims and survivors of domestic violence. It will be held October 9th at Countries BBQ on Broadway. Registration starts at 5:30PM. For more info call: (706) 256-0237 ext. 114
  • Columbus United In Recovery sponsored an event to celebrate September as National Recovery Month. It was held at Lakebottom Park on September 29th.
  • Valley Rescue Mission is doing their Christmas Toys and Food Assistance October 8-20th. Call 706-322-8267 for more info.
  • The 5th Annual “Drugs Don’t Work Symposium” will be October 10th from 7:30 to 11:30am at the Green Island Country Club. For more info call: 706-327-156
  • Katie Byers with St. Anne Community Outreach is putting together a comprehensive list of Christmas "Give out programs" for this year. If you would like a copy of this list or have your organization added to this list, please email: outreach@stannecsg.com for more info.
  • A part time cook is needed for the Salvation Army. Call (706) 327-0275 for more info.
  • Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministry is collecting food to give out in Talbot County, as they have no grocery store or food bank there. They will be taking donations up until Oct 7th. For more info call: 706-327-0400

Youth Mentoring Services is a transitional housing shelter for girls aged 12-18 that have suffered abuse and neglect.  They offer a safe place to stay, basic accommodations (food and clothing), as well as different classes to help better their residents They also use referrals for group and individual therapy.  

Donations needed:   Hygiene items, Clothes, School supplies, as well as volunteers.
