Homeless Coalition Meeting Notes for November

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • New Street Beats are available and are yellow this quarter. 
  • There is still a funding opportunity for a New Permanent Supportive Housing project that helps people experiencing homelessness with a disability in the 2012 Continuum of Care application.   If you are interested in applying or know someone who is, please contact: Liz@homelessresourcenetwork.org
  • HMIS Training is available by appointment. Please contact: Jon@homelessresourcenetwork.org if you need training or are interested in using an HMIS system. 
  • Homeless Resource Network needs VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) volunteers this year to help assist people in filing their taxes.
  • Katie Byers with St. Anne Community Outreach is putting together a comprehensive list of Christmas "Give out programs" for this year. If you would like a copy of this list or have your organization added to this list, please email: outreach@stannecsg.com for more info.
  • Valley Rescue Mission's Family Services will be closed during the month of December and will re-open after the first week in January.

The local Muscogee County Library's offer many great services, and anyone living in Muscogee County is eligible for a Library card for free. Below is just some of the services offered. Be sure to visit www.cvlga.org for more information.

  • Free Computer Classes. To see what individual classes are available go here: http://www.cvlga.org/computerclasses
  • Online GED training and study guides are available.

  • Meeting rooms – There are multiple meeting rooms which are available to use free of charge, both small and large.
  • Copies can be printed for 10¢ each.

  • "Metra Reads" is a program that will earn you free tickets on the local Metra buses just be visiting the local libraries often.
