One of the programs that is offered at TEARS Inc. is the "TEARS Student Assistance Program" which is a general outpatient program for adolescents having substance abuse and/or dependency concerns. Programs are offered for children between the ages of 12-18 that are medically stable and not currently psychotic, suicidal, or at risk to hard self or others.

They also have a shelter for homeless and runaway girls aged 13-17. It provides a safe drug-free environment, as well as food, clothing, toiletries and a caring staff.

"TEARS, Inc. was founded in 1996 by Mrs. Angelia C. Walton. She built the platform of TEARS through HIV/AIDS education to local churches and schools. In September of 1997 the organization received 501(c) (3)non-profit status.

Over the past few years, we have had the privilege of working with young people of all kinds of backgrounds. We, along with our volunteers, have seen first hand just how much one encouraging word or deed can truly affect the lives of others in a positive and powerful way. This has always been the driving force behind our phenomenal growth and continued support from our board members, donors, and volunteers."
