Subject: Invitation to Workshop on Faith -Based Mass Care (Sheltering ) & Response – October 3rd
To: "Dillard, Liz" <>

As the recent hurricanes have shown us, Our Faith Community and other community groups may want to open their doors as a Good Samaritan Shelter to the community to provide a place of shelter from the weather or other emergency events.

Often, there are many questions that places of worship have when doing this and at times they may run into issues they were not prepared for.

Please Join us – On October 3rd from 8am to 11:30 am,  Experts from the Georgia Department of Public Health, the American Red Cross, United Way, and Emergency Management will provide a workshop for the Faith community that addresses potential issues places of worship may encounter when opening a Good Samaritan Shelter vs. assisting in an American Red Cross Shelter.    Experts will talk about lessons learned from previous weather events like Hurricane Matthew, Facts about opening a Shelter and information about community volunteering.
